Who we areMap of Africa    

Industrial Training and Trade Testing is a division within the Ministry of Higher Education and Technology Zimbabwe. It was established under the terms of the Manpower Planning and Development Act, as the only authority in Zimbabwe to be responsible for:

  • Registration and supervision of Apprenticeship training programs

  • Trade Testing and certification of Skilled Workers

 

What is our aim

        To be the "leaders and pace setters" in Zimbabwe and SADC in Trade Testing and Industrial Training.

 

 

What is our Mission Statement

To provide an efficient Apprenticeship Training, Trade Testing and Certification Service to meet the demands of industry, the individuals and the economy as a whole in order to ensure credibility of National Qualifications and realise the aspirations of potential trainees and skilled workers

 

 

What do we do

  • Administer functions contained in the Manpower Planning Act relating to Apprenticeship Training, Trade Testing and Certification

  • Establish and appoint National committees of experts and policy makers for the furtherance of Apprenticeship and Trade Testing activities

  • Research and review new occupations for testing and certification for the small sector enterprises

  • Quality assurance authority for Skilled Workers emerging from various training programs.

  • Develop and review Skilled Worker Proficiencies schedules

 

 

Apprenticeship Training:

  • Registration and certification of Apprentices

  • Develop and review apprenticeship training programs

  • Legislate and review conditions for Apprenticeship training

  • Coordination and supervision of Apprenticeship training

 

Trade Testing and Certification of Skilled Workers:

  • Register and certify Skilled Workers

  • Regulate and review conditions for Skilled Worker testing and certification programs

  • Update and maintenance of Test Item databanks

  • Compile and administer practical test projects

  • Compile and administer theory test

  • Coordinate and administer trade tests
